Chip provides accounting, tax, and management advisory services to a diverse range of clients. These include construction contractors, nonprofit organizations, wholesalers, retailers, and service firms. Chip performs audits, reviews, and compilations of financial statements, operational reviews, accounting services, and tax planning and preparation services. He also has a base of individuals for whom he offers tax advice, estate planning, and multi-state and Federal tax preparation.
Within the construction industry, Chip’s clients include residential homebuilders, real estate developers, and general and specialty contractors. He is an authority on the specialized accounting and tax issues of the construction industry. He provides the traditional financial statement and tax planning and preparation services, and advises management on internal controls, accounting systems, and operational issues.
To keep pace with the construction and contracting industry, Chip has memberships in the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association, the Construction Financial Managers Association, and the Construction Industry CPAs/Consultants Association, a national organization created to help CPA firms serve the construction industry.
Chip’s nonprofit clients include trade associations, private schools, fraternal organizations, private foundations, churches, and fire and rescue organizations. He performs audits and has extensive experience with the unique financial reporting and tax requirements of nonprofit organizations. He is a member of the American Society of Association Executives and a past treasurer of the George Mason University Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Chip is committed to the business community and has been a guest speaker for several Northern Virginia Chambers of Commerce to guide local businesses on improving their cash flow. He is also a volunteer leader with the Boy Scouts of America and treasurer of the Fairfax County Crimesolvers.

Thomas E. Cox, CPA, has been associated with Thompson, Greenspon, & Co., P.C., since 1978, when he joined the firm as a manager. He became a principal in 1982 in charge of the Firm’s tax department. From 1995 to 2007, he was managing principal, giving him responsibility for the overall guidance and direction of the firm.
In addition to his administrative duties, he is responsible for tax planning and compliance for a broad spectrum of clients engaged in real estate development, property management, financial institutions, research and development, and other industries. His experience includes tax planning for corporate reorganizations, workouts, liquidations, partnerships, compensation planning, and individual and business tax planning. He assists clients in meeting complex reporting requirements and consults on compliance issues.
Tom also acts as the Firm’s liaison with the Internal Revenue Service on ruling requests, tax audits and other compliance areas.
Before his association with Thompson, Greenspon, & Co., P.C., Tom was with the Internal Revenue Service, where he was an appeals officer with the Appellate Division. He also served as an instructor for the Internal Revenue Service’s advanced corporate and partnership tax courses.

Richard D. Castro, CPA, has been with Thompson, Greenspon & Co. P.C., since 1987 and has been a principal in the firm since 2000.
Rick has been involved in many aspects of client service. Some of his specific experience has been in auditing and corporate tax, with an emphasis in the banking and financial services industries, as well as construction and general contracting. Rick is a member of the Firm’s Construction Services Group and the Banking Services Group, both of which requires in-depth knowledge of not only the industries but also the laws and tax requirements for entities within those industries. He has been instrumental in providing technical assistance to clients and in attracting new businesses to the Firm through presentations he has given in the market area.

Tom Miller
, Principal, has been with Thompson, Greenspon, & Co., P.C., since 1990, when he joined the Firm as a manager in the
Tax
Department.
Among his many duties, he has developed an area of specialization in the nonprofit sector, permitting him to work closely with organizations to assist them in performing within the 501(c) guidelines. His experience in tax law interpretation, return preparation, and IRS negotiations has been extremely beneficial in analyzing and advising clients on complex business and individual tax matters. The analysis and advice provided by Tom has included partnership and corporate formations, mergers, acquisitions, liquidations, and complex tax issues arising from divorce situations.
In addition to his association with Thompson, Greenspon, & Co., P.C., Tom was with a large international accounting firm for two years as a staff and senior accountant, and spent eleven years at the Internal Revenue Service as a field agent, group manager, and acting branch chief. This experience has enabled him to develop a second area of specialization in Forensic Accounting, and he has achieved the designation of Certified Fraud Examiner.

Jan E. Thompson, CPA, has been with Thompson, Greenspon, & Co., P.C., since 1974 and became a principal in 1979.
She has been involved in all aspects of client service with industry specialization in the areas of construction, professional services and financial services. Most notably, Jan has led the Government Contracting Group within the Firm since its inception over twenty years ago. This group now represents one of the largest industry segments within the client base. Due to her extensive knowledge, she is often called upon for seminars and presentations to explain the complexities in this area of audit and accounting.
Jan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Virginia Tech and, as a member, routinely participates in continuing education programs of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Virginia Society of CPAs. She has also attended the

Nathan (Bucky) S. White, IV, CPA, has been in the practice of public accounting since 1978. He joined Thompson, Greenspon, & Co., P.C., in 1983, and is a principal of the firm.
His experience includes a diverse group of clients with a high concentration in the construction and construction-related industry. Among his duties at the Firm, he is the chairman of the Construction Services Group. Clients serviced through this group are general contractors, subcontractors, real estate developers, and residential homebuilders throughout the metropolitan area. Services include audited, reviewed and compiled financial statements, preparation of complex multi-state income tax returns, tax planning and management advisory services on internal control structures, operating efficiencies, business valuation, and litigation support.
Other work experience includes nonprofit organizations, private educational institutions, manufacturers and law firms. In addition, Bucky is the quality control principal and performs the quality control review of all financial statements prior to their issuance by the Firm.

He is very active in the construction industry, and is a member of the Construction Industry CPAs/Consultants Association (president, 1995)., This association is a nationwide group of CPA firms formed to help provide services to the construction industry, the Northern Virginia Chapter of the Associated Buildings and Contractors Association, Heavy Construction Contractors Association, and the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association. His professional memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Virginia Society of CPAs.
Bucky is also involved in the community and has served for many years as the treasurer for the Foundation for Applied Technical Vocational Education, Inc., which works with

Daniel Thompson, CPA, joined Thompson, Greenspon, & Co., P.C., in 1976 and was admitted as a principal in 1988.
He has been involved in all aspects of client relationships, with some of his specific expertise in the industries of construction, professional services, and retail trades. One of his primary responsibilities today is in the area of Management Advisory Services – Computer Consulting. Dan has taken a leadership role with his extensive experience in evaluation and installation of computerized accounting systems from mainframes to personal computers for clients and prospective clients. He is in charge of all computer operations for the Firm.
He has also conducted training classes in computer and software operations for both clients and for Firm members. He has for many years been responsible for the monthly write-ups for and consulting with our small business clients.

William G. Astrab, CPA, joined Thompson, Greenspon, & Co., P.C., in 2002 as a manager in the accounting and audit department and is an associate principal in the Firm.
Bill comes to the Firm with experience in serving a variety of clients, including financial institutions, not for profit organizations, and government contractors, as well as clients with employee benefit plans. Prior to joining Thompson, Greenspon & Co., he also served as an audit partner for a local firm specializing in financial institutions.
Bill is a member of the Firm's Banking Services Group and Employee Benefit Plan Services Group. Within the financial institution industry, his engagements include banks and federal credit unions. He also provides audit, tax, and advisory services to a diverse range of clients, including not for profit organizations, a variety of closely held companies, and government contractors. Bill also manages public client engagements and participates in keeping the Firm current in its compliance with public company reporting and auditing requirements.

Sirena G. Johnson, CPA, has been in the practice of public accounting since joining Thompson, Greenspon, & Co., P.C., in 1999 and is an associate principal in the Firm.
Sirena provides accounting, auditing and tax services to clients, with an emphasis in the Federal government contracting, construction, and employee benefit plan industries. She possesses a working knowledge of Federal regulations and cost principles for Federal government contractors and construction contracting accounting policies. Sirena has worked with various general contractors and subcontractors in the Metropolitan area. In addition to providing accounting, auditing and tax services, Sirena also provides management consulting services. These services include assisting client management in the implementation of cost accounting systems and overhead allocation methods; preparing overhead incurred cost submissions for the Defense Contract Audit Agency; generating accounting policies and procedures for various entities; and supervising and training clients’ staff.
Sirena's experience with employee benefit plans entails financial statement audits and tax return preparation for these plans. She is knowledgeable of Internal Revenue Code and Department of Labor regulations promulgated for employee benefit plans.
Prior to joining the firm, Sirena had an additional four years of accounting experience in the private industry sectors of Federal government contracting and legal practices.
