At Thompson Greenspon, community service isn’t just a tradition—it’s part of who we are. This summer, our team once again came together for our annual Volunteer Day, dedicating time to supporting nonprofits across the Metro DC area that serve individuals and families in need.

Through our partnership with HomeAid National Capital Region, volunteers supported House of Mercy and New Hope Housing, while another team gave their time at Women Giving Back, which supports women and children in crisis.

At New Hope Housing, volunteers spent the day gardening—pulling weeds, planting flowers, and transforming the outdoor areas to create a more welcoming space.

“We may not have green thumbs, but the before-and-after photos speak for themselves. It’s amazing what a team can accomplish in just a few hours. I’m proud to work for a firm that values this kind of service.”

— Alexander Tuvin, Tax Supervisor

At House of Mercy, our team sorted donations, assembled food pantry items, and helped organize the thrift store, making space for future contributions.

“It was a privilege to work alongside my colleagues and community members. It’s meaningful to know that our efforts will make a real difference for those who rely on these organizations for essential support.”

— Helen Flor, Tax Staff

“It was basically my workout for the day—we moved a ton of donated items! One of the site managers told us our three hours of work pushed them ahead by weeks, giving them space to handle even unexpected donations. That felt great to hear.”

— Tiffany Ho, Audit Staff

At Women Giving Back, volunteers helped sort and hang clothes, supporting the organization’s mission of providing clothing and essentials to women and children in crisis.

Service Beyond Volunteer Day

Our commitment to giving back extended beyond Volunteer Day. In June, we hosted a blood drive in partnership with the Inova Blood Mobile at our office building. Earlier in the spring, we collected diapers and wipes for HomeAid’s Builders for Babies Diaper Drive, helping families with young children meet basic needs.

“Volunteering your time and energy is always rewarding, especially with an organization like HomeAid. What stood out to me, especially as someone new to the firm, is how consistent the team is about giving back—from the Diaper Drive to the blood drive, and everything in between this summer.”

— Billy Thomas, Principal

Volunteer Day and the many service activities surrounding it reflect our firm’s continued commitment to making a difference. We’re proud of our team and the impact we can have when we work together to support our community.
